Introducing The Girard-Perregaux Tri-Axial Tourbillon In White Gold

Last year, Girard-Perregaux followed up on their GPHG-winning Constant Force LM with the dramatic Tri-Axial Tourbillon in red gold. The watch is a tour-de-force of complexity, housing a 140-component tourbillon that rotates around three distinct axes, each at a different speed. This year, Girard-Perregaux has updated the watch with a case made of white gold, and a more revealing dial design. We ve got all the details and even a few exclusive images of the watch itself.

Girard-Perregaux s Tri-Axial Tourbillon is unique in its finishing and its construction. The interior carriage, housing the escapement and balance wheel, is lyre shaped in typical GP fashion, and makes a full rotation every 60 seconds. This interior carriage is fitted into a separate structure that rotates around a separate axis every 30 seconds. Lastly, the structure as a whole rotates around a third axis, making a full revolution every two minutes. Having a difficult time imagining all that? We ve got a video of last year s model in action below.

The tourbillon assembly is fitted into its own bubble within the replica breitling Certifie dial at the 9 o clock position. It s size and rotation requires additional clearance, so a convex lens been fitted into the sapphire crystal. The movement of the tourbillon is visible from the dial side, the movement side, and even through a sapphire window set into the wall of the case at 9 http://www.mrjack.co.uk/breitling-bentley-watches-uk.html o clock. This, plus the lack of cages used in assembling the tourbillon, make for optimal observing conditions of the balance wheel itself.

New for 2015 is the white-gold case, sized at 48 mm in diameter, and 16.83 mm in thickness. The robust dimensions are required to house the 317-component movement, the GP09300-0002. The Tri-Axial Tourbillon in white gold enjoys a revised dial design, featuring open slots to view the topside of the movement. Additionally, the hour and minute subdial has been redesigned with more traditional approach, now sporting minute demarcations and a sunburst pattern.

The Girard-Perregaux Tri-Axial Tourbillon is limited to 10 pieces. We ll be going hands on with this watch this week at SIHH in Geneva, and will be updating with live pics and pricing details. More from GP here.

Hands-On With The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar In White Gold

The 1966 line from Girard-Perregaux is easily the purest from this manufacture of haute horlogerie. But it can perhaps be overlooked, considering GP’s attention-grabbing, truly cutting-edge masterworks like the 2013 GPHG-winning Constant Escapement LM. While tri-axial tourbillons and triple bridges are fun to read (and write) about, it’s not necessarily what the average watch lover looks for in an everyday timepiece. For that, the 1966 collection does the trick, and today we take a look at this elegant full calendar in white gold.

These watches have a number of features you would want to find in a high-end, every day luxury watch. They are not excessively sized at 40 mm, and the dials can either come in black or white. They are true triple calendars in the old sense of the term C not annual calendars or perpetual calendars. The dates are set manually via pushers on the side, and the displays replica breitling avenger are truly iconic, with the day and month read via apertures at 12 o’clock, and date and moonphase at 6 o’clock.

On the black dial, the 31 is marked in red, while on the white dial, it is blue, matching the script in the apertures. On the black dial, the script is white against a black background, which is a really nice look.

Inside you will find the GP caliber GP0330MO, which is an in-house, self-winding movement that beats at 4 hz, with a power reserve of 46 hours. The movement is quite thin, which allows the entire watch to be around 10.5 mm thick and fit just right on the wrist.

The overall wearability of this white gold full calendar from GP is excellent. It fits under a cuff without any effort, and the lugs wrap wonderfully around the wrist. This is a very usable watch, with just the right dose of function and form.
